Not many lawyers prepare for trial by mastering the art of spitting a razor blade from their mouth, but I have. While not every case requires demonstrations on spitting razor blades for the jury, I’m always ready to go to the next level for a client, razor blades and all.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I’m the oldest daughter of a single, working mother. Before law school, I worked as a waitress, interned for Senator Wendy Davis during her famous filibuster, and advocated for incarcerated women at a non-profit legal clinic. I earned my law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 2018.
I’ve practiced criminal defense for my entire legal career because I believe that no person should be defined by the worst moments in their life. From growing up in a working-class family to fighting the California prison system, I know what it is like to persevere when the odds are stacked against you.
Prior to joining Cofer & Connelly, I served Travis County as a public defender. At the public defender’s office I represented clients from arrest through final case disposition while employing a holistic model. This means not only providing excellent courtroom advocacy, but also addressing the barriers to success that a client might face outside of the courtroom.
In my free time, I am the Chair of the local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, an organization dedicated to promoting human rights through direct legal representation. Outside of my career and my volunteer activities, I enjoy mastering the art of the perfect Instagram post and sweating it out at the yoga studio.
